torn how to upload images to forums
Hi webbrewers3,
As per your description, you customized the list by publishing an image field to let users upload images. In Modern site, as you already know that we accept Picture Library for users to shop images. This is a specific site content for storing images. We recommend using picture library to shop the images instead of saving images in listing.
However, I found some threads take similar requirement, and using script might exist able to achieve this requirement. You can post this query in TechNet Forum if you really desire to apply script to upload pictures in the list.
I have no uncertainty about your experience in SharePoint Online and your communication is very important for us, you can share your valuable suggestion in SharePoint UserVoice, and you tin contact us someday if you encounter any question about SharePoint Online, we will endeavour our best to help.
Thanks for your understanding. Take care!
Best Regards,
Ivy

We wanted to employ a LIST not a library which was why I asked the question. We're recreating some quite complex lists that let users to upload an image in modern and the fact that Msft didn't think through this common scenario before dumping modernistic on us, is frankly yet another indictment of how little they care about customer feel, how little they know about how SP is used and how inadequate the testing of modern was before release. They're besides shooting themselves in the foot - the modern ui was supposed to eliminate much of the customization possible, only here we are forced to come up with hacks to overcome the limitations in modern.....

Moreover, on my additional search I institute nosotros tin can upload the images to SharePoint List using the Ability Apps, so yous tin can give a endeavor to post the business organization in Power Apps Community to get the possible workarounds for this requirement.
Apologies for the inconvenience acquired past the limitation in SharePoint Online and thanks for agreement.

It doesn't audio like yous do quite understand - in your first respond you lot said: "We recommend using picture library to store the images instead of saving images in list. " Files tin't be "stored in a listing" and that's not what I'm asking. In classic you could add a publishing image field which would allow users to upload an prototype TO A LIBRARY. The field would then wrap the stored image's url in an image tag so it would display.
So at present you know how it worked, what's the alternative approach in modern? I tried calculation fields to a motion picture library which works fine merely the upload process and appearance is fearfully bad. When users click "new" they run into the classic upload.aspx folio and so there'southward a jarring change in the ui. Then they bounciness dorsum to the modernistic editform page to fill in backdrop. Msft can't exist serious that they think this is an adequate user experience. Information technology certainly wouldn't fly at my and probably nearly other companies. Why hasn't the upload.aspx folio been updated to modern at the very to the lowest degree?

Hi webbrewers,
As you said, information technology will redirect to a classic experience folio when user try to upload picture in Flick library past clicking "+ New"-> Picture, and information technology will go back to modern UI to backup with the properties.
